Éli Laliberté, producer at Groupe PVP, recently travelled to Hawaii to shoot the pilot episode of a new documentary series called Konnected.tv, coproduced with Steven Martin from Dundee Road Productions. This series witnesses the quest of Cree musician and journalist Pakesso Mukash, meeting the next generation of indigenous tradition keepers across the Americas.
Éli gives us his impressions on filming the pilot episode :
“Visiting the native Hawaii takes you light-years away from Waikiki Beach, the cocktails and the surfboards. In fact, the indigenous Kanaka Maoli care nothing for all this glamour… All too often, indigenous peoples end up at the bottom of the social ladder and are stripped of their ancestral land. But the indigenous peoples’ sacred flame is still glowing and our champion, Daniel Anthony, has put his heart and soul into firing up the embers in the young generation’s hearts. While we were filming the first episode, he shared his infectious enthusiasm with us. Thanks to this infectious energy, the project has now taken off. This production is going to transform us and we hope that the same can be said for our TV viewers and users of the various web platforms related to Konnected.tv. Pakesso Mukash’s quest is well and truly underway.”
