The Grand Solstice is a major televised and musical event celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day every June 21. It brings together Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists from across the country on one stage to share culture, music, and stories.
For its 5th edition, The Grand Solstice comes to life in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal), with additional performances filmed in the W8banaki community of Odanak. On stage and on screen, a constellation of artists delivers powerful and unique performances that highlight connection, creativity, and cultural pride.
This edition features Tia Wood (Cree and Salish, Saddle Lake First Nation), Jeremy Dutcher (Wolastoqey, Tobique First Nation) in duet with soprano Elisabeth St-Gelais (Innu, Pessamit), Mimi O’Bonsawin (Abenaki), Anyma Ora’ (Wendat, Wendake), as well as an original composition by Juurini (Inuk, Kuujjuaq) and Ingrid St-Pierre. Viewers will also be moved by a performance from Elisapie (Inuk, Salluit) and dancer Simik (Inuk, Rankin Inlet), along with Adrian Sutherland (Cree, Attawapiskat First Nation) and the vibrant duo Shauit (Innu, Maliotenam) and Yves Lambert.
