Nordicité - a new documentary series exploring the North

A six-part documentary series
Available online January 19 and airing on Savoir média starting January 26, 2026

Nordicité is a documentary series produced by PVP MEDIA, hosted by Karina Marceau and directed by Simon C. Vaillancourt. It explores how Québec has been shaped by and adapted to its Nordic climate. Rather than portraying winter as a constraint, the series presents it as a creative force and a central element of collective identity. It examines the impact of cold and long nights on our bodies, our mobility, our relationship with nature, and our culture.

Across six 30-minute episodes, released online on January 19 and broadcast on television beginning January 26, the series offers an immersive look at the contemporary Nordic experience, at the crossroads of tradition, innovation, and resilience.

Nordicité explores the North not merely as a geographic reality, but as a mental, cultural, and sensory territory, where climatic, social, historical, and human issues intersect. The series gives voice to those who live in, move through, and continually reinvent the North amid profound change. Drawing on the knowledge of scientists as well as tradition bearers, Nordicité examines how winter shapes our ways of life, an invitation to understand the North as both a way of living and a shared identity.
