Although Quebec’s wildlife and their habitats are generally well protected, there are still roughly 360 officers patrolling the province’s forests and lakes year-round, working under all conditions to protect our precious territory. Fighting against poaching, monitoring hunting and fishing activities, patrolling the forests, responding to emergencies in urban areas, dismantling large-scale illegal trafficking—working as a wildlife protection officer comes with its share of complex tasks and unexpected challenges.

Gardiens de la forêt is a fascinating observational documentary that sheds light on the unsung work of Quebec’s wildlife protection officers. Around the clock, our cameras capture these officers at work as they patrol the area, deal with poachers, investigate tip-offs from the public, work with shelters to keep wildlife safe, and respond to situations where animals have wandered into inhabited areas.
