Je suis fan is a feature length documentary exploring the relationship that develops between an artist and his fans throughout a career as well as how it has evolved throughout decades, especially with the help of technology. The film is focused on three great Canadian artists: pop-punk band Simple Plan, crooner Paul Anka and singer Roch Voisine and, of course, their faithfull fans.
Strewn with interviews in addition to footage and live performances, the film tracks the origins of the phenomenon and its evolution while following the journeys of various women of all age, coming from different backgrounds and from every corner of the world – from Quebec to Japan, France and the United States – and their idols either on tour, before a concert or whilst everyday life. Moreover, the musical sociologist Line Grenier, the journalist and VJ Patrick Langlois as well as Pamela Des Barres – the world’s most famous groupie – give us their opinion on the matter.
In addition to the informative content, the film Je suis fan is an amazing musical experience. More than a documentary, Je suis fan is definitively a rockumentary!
