Canada en Amour

2008

Documentary series

Canada en Amour offers an alternative account of the country’s history by focusing on the love life of the men and women who had an impact on their era. Passionate love which ends in abandonment, heart-rending love which leads to devastation, forbidden love which results in scandal… Each of the 17 programs making up this series traces the portrayal of former Canadian morals in society. Canada en Amour explores personal relationships of key figures like Gabrielle Roy, Wilfred Laurier, Louis-Joseph Papineau, film director Mack Sennett, Princess Louise, daughter of Queen Victoria, and many more. Thanks to dramatic re-enactments filmed with actors, these love stories immerse viewers in different eras, whether it be the age of silent cinema, the Gold Rush, or even the First World War.
